If you haven’t played Brick Landing recently, you are missing a real treat.
Greens and fairways are in excellent condition. Brick Landing has some
of the best short par fours on the Brunswick County coast.- especially numbers
one and eighteen — which not only run along the intercoastal waterway, but also
have an ocean view.
Test your shot-making skills and play the Brick, you won’t be sorry.

Brick Landing Fall Couples Trip

The 11th Annual Fall Couples Golf Trip took place on September 30 to October 2 and a good time was had by all. The site this year was Pinehurst. The group stayed at Talamore and played golf at Mid South, Long Leaf and Talamore golf courses. Dinners took place at Squires Pub in Aberdeen and Beefeaters in Southern Pines.

The group has been gathering for an annual fall golf fest since 2003. Destinations have been Charleston, Wyboo Plantation, and Pinehurst.

The format for the first day and the third day was by points (modified stableford) with both individual and team prizes. In the middle day of competition, the ladies played together and the men played together in a captain’s choice.

The overall event was a “battle of the sexes” with points accumulated by both the men’s and women’s teams. This year the women won!

Attending were Tom & Linda Bianco, Elsa & Gene Bonstein, Bob & Sharon Brown, Cal & Dale Calhoon, Billy and B.G. Daniel, Mike and Sharon Deutsch, Chuck and Mary Dixon, George & Irene Dowdy, Rick and Billie Ellwanger (from Farmstead/Meadowlands) , Bonnie & Dick Giehl, Buddy Hollowell & Martha Cullen, Ralph & Jackie McLean.

Ralph McLean brought his guitar and provided entertainment on Tuesday evening singing both his own compositions and country classics. Thanks, Ralph!

Bonnie & Dick Giehl were the scorekeepers and tournament chairs for the trip. Thanks for all your hard work.

As many of you have heard we just recently hosted our very first Member-Guest under Larry and Karen Doyle’s Ownership. We thank everyone that participated and we miss those of you whom could not make it, we hope to see you next year. I would like to add, that we have had an overwhelming response in support of the Member-Guest and we are very happy that everyone had such a good time. However, if you do have ANY feedback that might help our efforts moving forward in making it an even better event: We are listening. You could either drop me a note or email me at your convenience. [email protected]

I am sure everyone has had the opportunity to see the great condition the golf course is in and I would like to recognize our Superintendent; John Jenkins, Asst. Superintendent: Chris Cummings and the rest of the crew for an outstanding job of getting the course ready for the member-guest as well as ALL their hard work these past two years. It has been a challenging road but the crew has stayed the course and are getting the job done. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!

As stated in previous emails work on and around the golf course will be a constant job but we ask that you remain patient as we tackle the more important projects first. We do have an advisory committee that meets with the staff every few weeks so if you have any questions or concerns please contact your group liaison and they will address each issue in these meetings. In the near future, new white sand will be added to the bunkers and some cart path work will begin. At this point I am not sure to what extent the cart paths will be repaired however, we will be addressing the worst areas first. This effort will also be done in phases but in the end both the white sand and repaired cart paths will add another sparkling touch in making Brick Landing the place to play again.

The bathrooms on the golf course are for Registered Golfers Only! The door locks have been replaced with automatic locks in efforts of keeping them cleaner as well as keeping unwanted critters out. The keys for the bathrooms are located on each golf cart for your convenience. I would also like to remind all golfers, Please help us in keeping the course conditions up by repairing balls marks, filling divots with sand and keeping the carts at least 50 yards from ALL greens and on the path around ALL Tees, Greens and Par 3′s.

We are looking forward to a great fall and welcome back all that have been traveling during the summer months. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Joey
