10/15/2013 The View Update
Good Morning,
Thanks for your patience in getting the tidbits of news from down in the restaurant two days late.
We had a good turnout for twilight hosted by the Bob and Kathy Mularczyk..the weather was good and so was the food.
Then we rolled into our second wedding of the season in the event room and from this point on it will be called upstairs. I can’t keep all the new names to the rooms straight so for these news bits they will be called upstairs and down. The Kuthe’s hosted their daughter Jerilynn and Tom Leavell become Mr. and Mrs. With every new wedding they throw us something new to see if we can handle it. This time it was a 9 piece band.. They took up a good amount of space and tested the acoustics …I bet if you were outside at the time you could probably have heard them also. The dance floor was put to good use and we even had a show by a member of the family who does a pretty good Michael Jackson and his dance moves. They stayed late and came back early for brunch and then they departed.
The interclub was postponed due to rainy weather which never came. We now know how hard it is for schools when they say it might snow and cancel school and then you wake up scramble to find a sitter and wonder why they called it off. That only happens down here because we all know we went to school every day up north and walked 3 miles each way in a blizzard and never missed a day. What fibs will this generation have to tell their kids. Interclub has been rescheduled for Nov. 13.
We are having a Harvest Moon dinner from Ocean Ridge on Thursday with 170 people. Followed by a wedding that came in at 193 persons in a room that holds 175..next challenge push the walls out to accommodate.
Don’t forget to make your reservations for Thanksgiving and yes we have talked about the flotilla which of course we will do again. Don’t know the details but when I have them so will you.
Have a good week and we will see you when we see you.

Good Morning,
The week is gone and I thought it was a slow one so why am I a day late. The best reason was because I went home yesterday and watched all my picks for football lose again.
This Wednesday we are hosting the finals for interclub. I know that word has gone out that it will be upstairs but I am here to inform you it will not. Picture a hundred men eating BBQ upstairs..ok picture the chef bringing a grill upstairs to cook..neither option works for us. The interclub will party downstairs or outside or in the bar or all three. See you then.
We have twilight on Friday and a wedding on Saturday more about them after they happen. Of course we have dinner on Wednesday and Friday so make your reservations. With daylight savings time ending soon and it getting dark earlier the dinners by the window to see the view are becoming limited.
I am pleased to announce we are taking reservations for Thanksgiving. We are serving at 12 noon ..2 pm..and4 pm. The cost will be $27.00 per adult kids 5-12 for $13.50. The menu will be…Turkey, cornbread stuffing, prime rib, mashed potatoes and giblet gravy, candied yams, roasted root vegetables, green bean casserole, cranberry relish, broiled flounder, chilled seafood display, broccoli salad, waldorf salad, seasonal salad display, chicken pot pie, pork and wild mushroom fricassee, assorted artisian breads and of course the best display of all the DESSERT display.
We all know that the chef may change some things but never for the worse. Call as soon as possible so we don’t give your table away. 910-754-5540.
Have a safe week and we will see you when we see you.

Good Afternoon,
As brunch is winding down I thought I would get back on schedule with my tidbit of the week.
We had a good turnout for our 5 o’clock club meeting and the ladies actually got to play golf. First one that it didn’t rain for… rumor has it the only change was that Carol Fredericks was out of town.
The men were also successful winning the interclub against Briarwood. Good job guys. I was told I can’t give you a hard time any more about golf or I would have to play..you wouldn’t want that because I can’t even putt putt.
Then the Daniels hosted the twilight event on Friday another pretty day…seems we were on a roll with gorgeous weather this week. Once again the food was up to Scott’s standards and everybody was happy.
Then we had the pleasure of hosting Mr. and Mrs. Terry’s baby girl become Mrs. Ashleigh Brown. Hunter and Ashleigh made a nice couple as they danced the night away. We wish them well and let it be known they were the first offical couple of the new banquet facility.
What a great start.
Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day.
We are coming up on a quiet week or so we think…the phone rings non-stop getting information about having Christmas functions. Yes we are also going to have turkey day here at The View. Details will be coming shortly. We have started a reservation sign up sheet already but I don’t have the times yet.
And if we are talking Turkey day can decorating for Christmas be far behind. Only a hint ladies we have a second floor to think about.
Gone to clean the place up and go home and watch The Bears and probably fall asleep.
Have a good week and we will see you when we see you.

Good Morning,
I bet you all thought you hadn’t gotten my email this week as I have had a lot of people tell me they aren’t getting them any more, but the truth is I hadn’t sent one yet. For those not getting them check your spam folder as my kids tell me that is where they go.
We are getting ready to have a busy lunch with 3 large parties followed by the 5 o’clockclub for dinner as well as a full dining room for dinner. Here is hoping the ladies get in a round of golf as they have been rained out on their two previous outings.
Thursday is interclub against Briarwood and you don’t have to be good host and let them win. Good Luck guys.
Friday is twilight and just maybe the good weather for them will hold as they are two for two in good days unlike last year when it rained a lot.
Then on Saturday we have our first wedding upstairs. Thanks to the exceptional members guests weekend we have all the bugs worked out. Yes I live in a dream world never ever will all the bugs be worked out but they will get smaller and smaller.
Sunday at 9:30 we are having a party of 50 for brunch so make sure you plan ahead and give us a call for reservations.
The week we have just wrapped up we had a rehearsal dinner hosted by Kathleen and Mike Althoff for their son Patrick and his future wife Danielle. Then Tina Scott hosted a rehearsal dinner for her son Jordan and his future wife Teeya. We wish both couples our best with many years of happiness. Then we had an after wedding brunch for Kelly and Jason Kane all went home happy and full. Last but not least we would like to thank our noisy neighbors from Rivers Edge for letting us serve you this past Wednesday. Hopefully we will see you again soon.
I am using fall colors as background colors so no the yellow wasn’t used last week to get your attention but it worked.
That is all for now. I will see you when I see you and enjoy this cooler weather.

9/15/2013 Update
Good Evening,
We have wrapped up our first annual under the Doyle’s ownership Members/Guests weekend. The weather was great and a lot of old friendships were renewed and new ones were formed. I am the least informed about golf, but it seemed as though everyone had a good time. Let me tell you from the restaurants end…We had our roll out of the banquet room..The room was beautiful, the food was plentiful and the guests were patient. We are kinda of glad that the first function was with friends from the Brick who were our trial run. In two weeks we have our first wedding and a few things we need to fix were discovered. I am eternally grateful for the elevator as the stairs seemed to get taller and taller. The guests ate and ate oh then they played golf we then had a BBQ they ate some more got a good night sleep and then ate breakfast and went out and played another round of golf and then you guessed it they ate again.
I would like to thank our new guests who came to the restaurant only to be told we were closed for the function. We got emails addresses and from this point on you will be notified of the change of schedules. Thank you for your understanding and will be happy to see you when you come join us again.
We are also pleased to say that Scott and his fellow souse chefs (Melissa and Sean)placed 2nd in an entree competition with a seafood risotto and 3rd place with a lava cake for desert in a fundraiser at BCC. They were only a few votes short of winning the guest vote of Best Restaurant but we know we are that.
We will have our regular dinner on Wednesday. Thursday night will be a prep night for our two rehearsal dinners on Friday. Friday we will once again be closed to the public as we have the rehearsal dinners. The following week will be back to normal with dinner on Wednesday and Friday. Thanks for your patience and looking ahead we don’t have too many functions on dinner nights. Of course you can join us for our Sunday Brunch or a lovely lunch on the veranda now that it isn’t as hot.
Have good week and travel safe and I will see you when we see you.
Sue
9/10/2013 Update
Good Afternoon,
We have wrapped up another brunch and it seems early, everyone must be home in front of the tv for the beginning of football season.
We are anxiously awaiting the initiation of the event room with our member guests weekend. I have lost a considerable amount of sleep making sure we have everything needed. I don’t know why when you are trying to sleep you think of trash cans, ice bins etc. but when you are awake these things don’t pop in your head. First off with the serving of the meal on Friday we will be closed to the public for dining. Make your reservations for Wednesday early rumor has it we are going to be busy. Second to answer the much asked question no I will not assign tables. I believe this is a social function so you all should be sociable and mingle and sit with whomever you want to sit with. Heck you may sit with someone you don’t know and find out you just may like them. We believe everything will go perfectly well but just in case something is not perfect I will apologize now so I don’t have to hear about it later.
This Thursday we are participating in a Chilled and Grilled fundraiser at Brunswick Community College to raise money for scholarships for the students attending the college. Come and spend as many tickets at what we know is the best food in all of Brunswick County The View at Bricklanding. The hours are from 4 until 8 on Thursday Sept 12, 2013. See attachment at end of newsletter.
This past Wednesday we hosted Rivers Edge in an interclub and since we were the host we let them win. They had a pleasant lunch and we sent them on their way.
The sun shone and twilight golf has started. The Nucci’s were the host and hostess and it was a perfect day for golf. Thank You.
That wraps up the week and welcome home to all those who have traveled south to their winter homes. Have a good week travel safely and I will see you when I see you.
Sue
9/2/2013 Update
Good Morning,
So summer ends not really because it is still hot and fall does not begin until Sept 22 but we can pretend. Welcome home to all who have come home from their summer vacations. We have missed some of your smiling faces and want you to check out the new and improved event room better known as the upstairs. The room definitely got bigger as the walls went up and the windows changed to let you see the glorious view. Enjoy it.
The first function will be the members guests weekend. Dinner will be served upstairs on Friday the 13th of September. Then the first wedding will be Sept 28, 2013. Because of the dinner on Friday we will be closed to the public for dinner that night.
Speaking of being closed this Thursday Sept 5th we will be resting from our Caribbean Holiday and not serving that night only. Lunch will be opened as usual. We wish to thank Tim, our musician, for the summer of nice relaxing music as we welcomed new guests and tourists and members to our veranda to enjoy great food, a wonderful view and an occasional summer storm. When the plans are finalized for our next step on Thursday I will let you know.
Yesterday we set a new record for Sunday brunch and for those who didn’t get a chance to join us we look forward to seeing you some Sunday in the future. We have changed the hours of the brunch from 9 til 1 and from 1 until 2 we serve from our lunch menu. So if you aren’t a breakfast person and finish playing your rounds of golf we are here for you.
Have a good week and travel safe. I will see you when I see you.
Sue
8/25/2013 Update
Member Guest is coming up and we want to give a heads up to anyone planning on dining with us we will be closed to the public on September 13.
8/11/2013 Update
Good Afternoon,
The highlight of the week besides being busy everytime we were opened was that the elevator now goes to the top floor. For those of you who were unable to see upstairs because of the stairs we have solved that problem. The elevator door is outside the grill room and eagerly awaiting all the trips up and down for any and all parties using the facility. Don’t be shocked when the lights come on and off as you enter rooms they are all motioned sensored so you won’t hear mom in your subconscious telling you to turn off the lights.
Lunches this past week have been some of the busiest we have had since Scott has been here. Lots if new faces and the weather has co-operated and many took advantage of the veranda. Nights have also had many new people joining us from our neighboring communities with very pleasant comments.
Just a reminder to see if there is anything you can do to help the Hope for Harbor golf tournament besides pray for no rain. We are suppose to have a high chance of rain all week.
Time is flying and it won’t be long until members guest weekend is here. Make sure you have made your reservations with the pro shop because you don’t want to miss the best part of the weekend which is eating at The View. Okay I am a little biased.
